Why won’t my new dvd home Theatre System work?

I just bought a new philips HTS3578W Home Theatre system and have connected it up to my TV and satellite box. When I switch on the power all I get is the red standby light. No matter what I press on the remote or the Dvd Player itself nothing else happens. What am I missing?

check to see if all the wires are in the right places, therefore, double check.

and look to see if you connected the wires to the right places because i got a philips home theatre too and the same thing happened to me. all the wires and everything should come with the box.

i dont know how to explain it to you im sorry, its hard for me to tell if im not looking at it >.<
