how many times larger does the volume of the cube get if we double the lengths of all of its edges?

How would you explain this to an elementary school student?

Consider a cube with edge length 1. The volume is 1*1*1 or 1 cubic unit.

Now with an edge of 2 the volume is 2*2*2 = 8 cubic units. So doubling the edge results in 8 times the volume.
